Assignment Capsule
As a Technology applications consultant you will: develop an understanding of Humana's business needs and translate those needs into technological systems, design specifications and solutions. You will partner with other associates to analyze, design, develop, implement and integrate moderate and complex business systems that will optimize business outcomes.

  • Provide development and ongoing software support and issue resolution
  • Partner with other business areas within Humana to understand application requirements and develop programming specifications for development staff

Role Essentials
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • Ten + years technical experience in the following: COBOL, DB2, SQL, IBM OS/VS/JCL, and VSAM.
  • Experience in the areas of software development and support
  • Optional technical experience: QUIKJOB, EZTRIEVE, MQ Series, CICS.
  • Candidate will be expected to facilitate system design, write programming/development specification documents, and develop technical solutions.
  • Candidate will need strong written and verbal communication skills. Will work with business partners to understand the business needs of the organization and translate those needs into system design specifications.
  • Candidate should be a team player, eager to take on new challenges, and adaptable to rapid change.


Role Desirables
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Industry with focus on Claims processing and payment preferred.
  • Works with Business area and other members of IT to define projects, resolve problems, develop solutions, develop test plans and coordinate all phases of project


Reporting Relationships
  • You will report to a Technology Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Operating Officer.
