This position reports directly to the Director of Medicare and Commercial Clinical Programs

Role Description:

  • Collaboratively work with Humana's Procurement team to manage the pharmaceutical supply chain (including supplier selection, ordering, inventory control and return of expired pharmaceuticals) to minimize total pharmaceutical costs, stock outages, and operational inefficiencies across all pharmacies
  • Track and report on new generic pharmaceuticals entering the pharmacy distribution industry and respective pricing trends
  • Collaboratively manage the purchase/supply chain of pharmaceuticals across all pharmacies to ensure process adherence and cost management.
  • Understand and manage the pharmaceutical supply chain (manufacturer-to-wholesaler-to-pharmacy) business model, pricing trends and the respective impact to RightSource profitability
  • Minimize the opportunity for generic product recalls and the impact to Humana members
  • Eliminate the opportunity for counterfeit pharmaceuticals from entering Humana's supply chain.
  • Collaboratively investigate, develop and implement a pharmaceutical Material Requirements Planning, purchasing, and inventory control system for use at Humana's pharmacy distribution locations
  • Facilitate the reporting analytics required to track pharmaceutical purchases and pricing and integrate the reporting to Humana's Pharmacy Network team

    Competencies and Experience essential to this role are:
  • 5-10 Years Procurement, Supply Chain Management and Inventory Control Experience
  • 3+ Years Pharmaceutical Procurement, Negotiating and Contracting Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Business or Related Field, MBA Preferred
  • ISM Certified Purchasing Manager and APICS Certified Prod. & Inventory Control Manager Preferred
  • Six Sigma Process Improvement Experience Preferred
  • Experience Working at Large Fortune 500 Companies Preferred
